André Carvalho Hostalácio “Wakko”
Andre Wakko, born 1984 in Belo Horizonte, is a composer, sound designer, software developer, installation artist and multimedia performer. His work is an investigation of computer music, sonic space and generative art. His sonic explorations are rooted in academic sound research as well as in club culture.
Locating himself more on the periphery of the dance music culture, he also started exploring interactive sound installations, and audio-visual performances beyond the dance floor. For Andre, the artistic result that is evident in his works, and the creation of the instruments and tools to achieve these results, are two sides of the same artistic process.
Andre’s strong interest in the interaction between a given physical space and the imaginary space defended in his art can be best experienced in one of his multiple loudspeaker surround concerts and meshes projection.
He is part of the AZUCRINA (www.azucrina.org) collective, found in 2004. His performances and installations have been shown at the UDK Berlin, Austria, 3M Sao Paulo, CalArts Califonira, Rainbow Serpent Melbroune and others. His album ‘High Lights’ was release in vinyl pressed by Luos and Tonkind Berlin.
